Ratings and Reviews

Disappointment

I downloaded the Chick-Fil-A app in the beginning of the year and it was working perfectly fine with redeeming my rewards. Few months later I try to redeem some points making different purchases on different days thinking I would get my rewards for free. Well it's added to my cart as a free item but then I go to confirm my order and pay through the app. I get an error that reads there was a problem with your payment method. I confirm my card info is correct and I select the card I had prefilled in the app. I'm thinking great it went through. Well I look at the receipt and it's charging me for the rewards that should have been free. The employees don't know how to help me and they directed me to call customer support. I reached out to them on several occasions and they say they are still looking into it. Well then I receive an email telling me sorry we haven't gotten back to you but here's a free sandwich rewards hopefully this makes up for what was going on. No! I still can't redeem I'm points without actually having to pay for it when it should be free. Oh. I also did try all the trouble shooting techniques I was told by the customer service rep to try and none work.

Apple Pay

The app itself is very intuitive and user friendly. My 5 year old can use it very easily. I like that Ui. What I don't like which is why I had to give it a 3 star rating is the fact that unlike all other apps, you cannot just simply use Apple Pay to purchase your order. You can only use Apple Pay to add money to the app. What sense does that make. I don't want to have to add money every time I want to place an order. I want to simple choose Apple Pay and pay through Apple Pay. Having to select an amount I want to add to my account is senseless and it makes me want to use it less. Why not simplify it? Why make it so convoluted? It shouldn't be that much work to simply place your order. It's pretty evident you can use Apple Pay in the app. Why not take out the middle part. Hey why not just leave the option to add money to the account and have the option to use Apple Pay and let us as the consumer decide how we want to do it? I'm always hesitant with adding a credit card to an app. But Apple Pay is on my phone so no worries there. Adding an amount of money to the app yeah not willing as much. And yes I get that by doing so it makes people more inclined to come back to spend the amount they added but I'm one who would leave it there for 2 years before thinking about it again. Just my 2 cents. Otherwise I love it!!!

Terrible customer service response time

I purchased food at roughly noon through the app and received a "503 error". I then went in to the store and paid for my food the old fashion way. About 7 hours later I got a notification saying my food was ready, and my card was charged and my free sandwich reward was used.

Tech issues happen, I get that, but the customer service is TERRIBLE. I'm currently on hold as I write this. I emailed in a few weeks ago with no response. After a few days I called in after I didn't get a response. I was told my issue was being handled by a "regional manager" on the first call. No time frame was given on a resolution which is fine I guess. Here I am, 3 weeks later without a resolution and I can't even talk to someone on the phone due to hold times. I was kicked off the line while waiting to talk to a rep and I'm on hold again.

When the app works as intended (it usually works fine), it's an excellent app. However, when things go wrong you have to rely on the customer support team to give a resolution within their policy. I can no longer order food from the app with confidence due to the poor customer service experience. If something goes wrong on the app, expect to have your money tied up for weeks and even months. I don't even know if my issue will be resolved at this point. It's a shame because the app works so well most of the time and the user experience when it works is excellent.
